Ten Top Blog Posts on Exploring Spain

Looking for ideas for summer? We pick out ten of the best posts about Spain from Trips100 bloggers who have visited all corners and sampled the food, culture, history and Chupa Chups of this sunny country…

1 Malaga

From castle to market to cathedral, Suzanne who blogs at The Travel Bunny brings you five tips for a trip to Malaga. Instead of passing through on your way to and from the airport you might be encouraged to stay in this southern port city on the Costa del Sol coast once you’ve read and bookmarked this useful post.  Suzanne took her book group with her but you can just take a novel…

2 Barcelona

Emma who blogs at Adventures of a London Kiwi advises you to sit down with a cup of tea and a biscuit to view her photo post on Sagrada Familia where she asks whether Gaudi was a genius or a madman? She also gives a few tips for how to get the best out of the city of Barcelona, which includes a lot more exciting food than tea and biscuits.

3 Figueres

Talking of exciting food, Nicola who blogs at Globalmouse Travels enjoyed an enticing family cooking experience in a vineyard setting in Costa Brava’s Figueres. See how this vegetarian blogger got on with chef Jordi in her foodie post.

4 Tossa de Mar

Meanwhile Karen who blogs at WorldwideWriter challenges assumptions about the Costa Brava seaside resort of Tossa de Mar. From the Roman settlements and medieval fortifications to the poetry and sculpture you can see the town is more than its three main beaches in this post inviting us to take a walk with her around the former fishing village not too far from Barcelona.

5  Andalucia

It’s important to keep the kids happy in the summer, so Kim at Kick Back Times decided to highlight five family friendly hotels in Andalucia that specialise in everything active from horseriding to golf. She also has advice on keeping teens happy in Madrid.

6 Mallorca

Off the east coast of Spain, the Balearic island of Mallorca offers a serious challenge for cyclists. Hannah, who blogs at That Adventurer, is an adventure addict who climbed Vesuvius at age 6. In this post she describes a route with an average gradient of 7% a climb of 668m and a spectacular view. Bradley Wiggins has done it and what’s good enough for Brad is good enough for us. But we might need more of Julia’s tea and biscuits before we get into training.

7 Asturias

Staying with action adventure, Carly who blogs as Adventure Mummy took a walk into the National Park Picos de Europa on her final day in Asturias. She hiked through the Cares Gorge starting at Puente Poncebos and ending in Caín with a guide who was on hand to advise about the bird life. Check out what she saw on her rewarding walk.

8 Jerez

Johanna who blogs at Feet on the Ground did a whistle stop tour of Jerez when she was in Spain on a cruise. She says it has everything you’d associate with Spain: tapas, sherry, wine, horses, orange trees, flamenco, and amazing photo opportunities. Join her in this post for a wander of the churches, well-tended squares and bodegas.

9 Tarragona

Elizabeth who blogs as Wander Mum decided to ditch the pool for a day in one of the sunniest parts of Spain in favour of a UNESCO World Heritage Roman Amphitheatre and other cultural sites in Tarragona. But she still found time for bubbles and Chupa Chups in this engaging post on the Catalonian city.

10 Various

Vicky Flip Flop had six weeks of travelling around Spain and here she picks out some of her highlights as well as introducing the top 3 things to do on a budget in a handful of locations. It’s a post you won’t want to miss if you are planning a tour of Spain. She also has some useful information in linked posts about touring by train in the country.
