20150415_194216Short of ideas for your summer travels? Maybe a blogger can provide some inspiration. Nichola West from Globalmouse Travels selects some travel blogs that share her passion for family adventures near and far…

Family travel is obviously very dear to my heart. I set up Globalmouse Travels to document all of our family trips as travelling together is one of our favourite things to do, it really unites us all and we’ve enjoyed it since our children were weeks old. I have always loved to travel and it seemed only natural that this would continue once I had children and I feel so lucky to be able to keep having those adventures.

I also love reading about other families who have this passion and there are some great websites out there where you know that those involved genuinely love to travel too. Here are six of the best to inspire you to keep on travelling.

1. Globetotting

Globetotting fills my dreams! It is full of the most beautiful places on earth, all visited with children in tow. Founded by Katja and Victoria their adventures in far flung places have me wanting to pack my bags every week. Globetotting allows you to dream and also to book that trip to Sri Lanka or (my favourite from their site) Panama. http://globetotting.com/

2. Family Adventure Project

Kirstie and Stuart’s Family adventure project is a really inspiring place to lose yourself. I love that their mission is to show that adventure and activity can be a central part of family holidays. They are big fans of cycling and bike rides focus regularly on their travels but they can also be found rowing in Scilly or challenging themselves on family survival courses. http://www.familyadventureproject.org/

3. Kiddie Holidays

Jo set up Kiddie Holidays to document her love for travelling with her two small children. Her site has so many great tips including best hotels to visit in Cornwall with children and “The Netherlands with nippers”. As someone who loves the UK and everything it has to offer families I love Jo’s tips of great place to visit with young children. http://www.kiddieholidays.co.uk/

4. Mums Do Travel

Gretta and I come from a similar BBC background and both have that passion for family travel. Her photographs always have me dreaming of getaways to Croatia or Italy and I rely on her monthly roundups of top things to do with kids in London. I can really relate to Gretta’s constant trips away – the world is out there to be explored and doing so with kids makes it all the more fun. http://mumsdotravel.com/

5. Family Travel Times

Sarah’s Family travel Times is a wonderful site which puts many of her posts in the words of her children. They love getting out and about and their tips about doing unusual things at popular places – like opening the park at Disney World or the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London – are brilliant! http://www.familytraveltimes.co.uk/

6. Together We Roam

For some family fun time from Down Under I love Together We Roam. Their posts on Bali with kids or Kangaroo Island gets me through the cold winter UK days when I need to dream of sunshine! Rene takes the most beautiful photos and has that intrinsic love of travel and exploration that I have and can’t suppress (and don’t want to!). http://togetherweroam.com.au/

Lisa Jane

Lisa is Editor of Trips100 and also blogs at Travel Loving Family (www.travellovingfamily.com). Her family travel blog shares travel tips, holiday reviews and destination guides from travels around the UK and abroad. Lisa has travelled to 80+ countries and has worked in the travel industry for 20 years.

  1. Thank you so much for including us. There are so many great family travel blogs out there, so we feel really thrilled to be on your list! PS The Ceremony of the Keys is one of the best things we’ve done and we can’t believe it takes place every day in our home town!

  2. Hi Kirstie, thank you for featuring me. I adore Globalmouse travels. Polo with kids!? Who would’ve thought 🙂

  4. What a great list! I love finding blogs about traveling families like ours. You can never have too much information from like minded people!

I write about traveling with the kid and making it educational. As a mom of two and fellow educator I strive to get the kids engaged and really thinking on our adventures. Families make wonderful memories while traveling!
